Modus Pocus: A Journal of Playing Card Problems and Methods is a rare gem from the early 1990s, created by the talented Allen Martin. This unique periodical, though short-lived, offers a deep dive into the world of card magic, focusing on intricate card problems and innovative methods to solve them.
Originally published in three issues, Modus Pocus is a must-have for any serious card magician. The first issue alone is worth its weight in gold, featuring a detailed solution to the legendary “The Three of Clubs” problem, co-authored by Allen Martin and the legendary Ed Marlo. Imagine the thrill of performing a trick where a spectator merely thinks of a card, and you, with a single pass through the deck, place the exact card they were thinking of face down on the table. This is the kind of magic Modus Pocus brings to your repertoire.
What makes this journal even more intriguing is its unique printing on red paper, a clever tactic to deter unauthorized copying. This adds a layer of authenticity and rarity to the issues, making them a prized possession for collectors and performers alike.
