How It Works

In this intriguing performance, a borrowed $100 bill is marked with a protective sigil and placed in one of three envelopes. The other two envelopes contain slips of newspaper. Three spectators randomly select lighters, which are proven to be functional. The envelopes are mixed and handed to each spectator in turn.

Claiming the sigil protects the money through natural forces, the first two spectators ignite their lighters and burn their envelopes. The third spectator, however, cannot light their lighter, leaving the final envelope unharmed. When opened, it reveals the borrowed $100 bill, safe and sound.

Finally, the sigil is erased from the bill, and without its protection, the money begins to burn. Quickly extinguishing the flames, you take your bows, leaving your audience in stunned silence.
