Begin by handing a spectator your diary for examination. They’ll notice that each day in the diary has the name of a playing card entered against it. This can be verified as they study the diary before placing it in their pocket. Pro Tip: You can customize the diary with anything you desire—names, phone numbers, words, or symbols.

Next, bring out six blank business cards. Write a prediction on one card without showing it to the audience, and leave it on the table. You’ll never touch it again. Alternative: Use a sealed envelope containing the prediction for added mystery.

Take the remaining five business cards and openly write different numbers on both sides of each card. A spectator names any month (completely free choice) and takes the card that represents their month. For example, if they think of May, they take the card with the number 5. This ensures they don’t change their mind later.

Another audience member (or the same one) mixes the remaining cards and lays them on the table. They flip over a couple of cards (totally free choice) to ensure a completely random set of numbers. The upper four numbers are then added together. For instance, they might total 20. The spectator is then asked to look up the 20th day in May. The card written against that date might be the 4C. Finally, your prediction is turned over to reveal that you wrote that very card—4C!
