At the beginning of the trick, you’ll hand out two small bags to two different spectators and a sealed envelope with a padlock to a third. The deck of cards is shown to be completely normal and thoroughly mixed, ensuring the audience knows it’s fair.

One spectator is then asked to remix the deck, and the cards are spread out in a ribbon. Each spectator takes hold of a section of the deck, making it impossible for anyone to know which cards they hold. They then separate their red cards from the black ones.

• The first two spectators count their red and black cards and open the bags you gave them earlier. Inside, they find the exact number of red and black chips, matching their count perfectly!
• The third spectator attempts to open the padlock but fails. You then ask them to try using the numbers corresponding to the counts of red and black cards from the other two spectators. Miraculously, the padlock opens, revealing a third prediction: the exact number of red and black cards from their own packets. They can verify that everything is correct. Impossible? Not with Coup d’Etat!
